About Moi

I’m a “mulipotentiate”: artist, writer, art therapist and complainer

I’ve been blogging since 2012, and you can hop over to my other blog to read old posts. I ran out of space on that blog so I’m starting this new blog. I just moved to a new art studio office and it’s a sparkling new year, so a new blog is a great opportunity.

In high school I hated drawing and painting. I was into black and white photograpy using a darkroom. We actually temporarily tried setting up a darkroom at home, not practical; I used the one at school. I discovered drawing randomly at Harvard. A friend told me to take My artwork is diverse in media, from oil paintings to works on paper and mixed media the class even though I had no interest. It was a big life moment if someone from the “Slacker” generation. I didn’t think practically or frame anything as a “life choice”. I just threw myself at experiences and often encountered synchronicity or being in the right place at the right time following my intuition or just being a 21 year old with no life plans.

The class was taught by Alfred De Credico and changed my life. At first it was a fun place to finally not have to use words and make sense and write torturous papers. I didn’t realize it was play therapy. Suddenly I considered being an artist. That was over 30 years ago. I began my career as an “outsider” artist with no formal training. Here I am today making drawings, paintings, collages, mixed media, dolls and altered books, a daily comic, videos and puppetry TikToks using my hand made dolls. And writing. Ah writing. So confusing and complicated from the moment I discovered it age 16ish.

I am working in a book/images? Called “The Art Box” about my experiences as an artist and art therapist. My art therapy private practice is my day job. The rest you can discover from my blog posts. I had a ten year blog that ran out of media/photo space so I started this website/blog to continue posting. My blog is all over the place like everything else, a home where having ADHD is fine and my crazy ADHD process is not a liability…
